Garmin thinking outside the box - or above the box

Garmin, a leader in GPS units and related outdoor tech gear, has recently gone to "new heights" with the recent partnership with Yao Ming, the 7-foot, 6-inch NBA star. Apparently he digs high tech gadgets and Garmin does too - a perfect fit? I suppose it's a broad fit, one well outside of the outdoor industry lines.

However, it sure made a splash in the financial market where news of the partnerhip was widespread but it seems to have done little to bolster financial markets - the stock is down $.64.
