Testing Snow Stability with the Shovel Tilt Test

Although this test is not a proven method to test snow stability it is used by the Utah Avalanche Center and seems to make sense to me - particularly given that the compression test isn't as effective when there is new snow. Check it out!

Hi,
We just launched CaliRiver.com, a rafting and adventure news and info site. We're interested in doing an exchang with you where we would syndicate the backcountry blog on our adventure news page if you'll link back to the CaliRiver page and add ECHO River Trips rafting blog to your blogroll. The Adventure news page is great and everytime you write a blog it will show up there. Please let me know if you're interested.
